Petiton to make Swift bricks compulsory:
A campaign has been started to make it compulsory to include Swifts bricks in all new building developments.
The petition is supported by the RSPB. If successful it will also help House Sparrows, Starlings and other hole-nesting birds which regularly use these bricks.
Hannah Bourne-Taylor who lives in Enstone launched the petition on 5 th November at Speakers Corner and then marched to Downing Street to present it.
Over 40,000 people have already signed the petition but we are hoping to reach 100,000 by the end of April 2023. The Government will then be required to consider arranging a debate in Parliament.
This simple measure could make a lot of difference to several of our Red-listed Birds of Conservation Concern.
If you haven’t already done so, please would you consider signing and encouraging your friends to do the same.
